Everyone talks about multiple streams of income, but not too many people talk about multiple marketing streams. I’ve come to believe that having multiple marketing streams is at least as important as having multiple streams of income.

But first, let me define what I’m talking about. Multiple marketing streams is a term I’ve just coined and it means using a variety of marketing tactics simultaneously to bring fresh leads into your business.

The problem is too many people rely on one or two marketing streams. Now, when those marketing streams are bringing in leads like mad, this seems like a good idea. The problem is what if one or both of those streams dry up?

And yes, this CAN and DOES happen. Frequently. And quickly. (Like overnight.) It happens if you’re one to say “word of mouth is all I need.” Or worse, most of your business comes from one or two referral sources. Something happens to those referral sources and you’re done.

1. Affiliate marketing is currently a billion dollar a year industry and is growing annually at double digit rates meaning that there is a ton of room for new people to get started.

2. Although affiliate marketing is a broad subject, you do NOT need to know everything in order to succeed. If you learn and implement just one or two techniques, you can be highly successful.

This site being one of the 300 most visited sites in the world; it’s ranking pretty high on Google and other search engines. For you, this means that your chances of your product being found by potential customers are pretty high too. Furthermore, every time you make a sale from your lens, Squidoo pays you as well. When you are well established in the system, owning lots of lenses, that amount alone can be quite sizable.

In the end, the only factor that will determine your success with affiliate marketing is your desire to succeed and your willingness to follow through. If you have that desire and you take action, you WILL learn and you WILL succeed. There are no two ways about it

Believing that you can’t change your circumstances is one sure way to feel powerless. You can spend all the time in the world bemoaning your job, your relationships, your finances, your lack of opportunities, or your streak of “bad luck” . . . but doing so only keeps you locked into an illusion of permanency. The truth is you always have choices. You may not like the choices available, but they are still yours. You can choose to act, or not act; you can choose to be optimistic about the possibilities that exist for your life, or you can accept limitations at every turn. Deciding which choice is best is the tricky part.

Fear can also disguise itself as a condition of powerlessness. You may know on some level that you have choices but refuse to acknowledge them because you fear the unknown. You know you can leave a dissatisfying job, but then what will you do? Will you find another job to replace it, and if so will it be a job you enjoy, or be worse than the one you just left? You know you can dissolve an unhealthy relationship, but is being alone really any better? At least now you have someone there, even if it’s not the person you’d prefer be there. Rather than face uncertain outcomes, you avoid making choices at all.

Whether you really believe you have a shortage of options or you are simply making excuses because you’re afraid to move forward, know that it’s ALL within your control. Just like every other person on the planet, you always have the most basic opportunity before you now: resign yourself to staying where you are, or roll up your sleeves and make something happen. If you worry about making the wrong choice, know that you can always make another choice. You can keep making choices as often as you’d like until you find something that works for you. To avoid making choices altogether doesn’t serve you, because in the end even not making choices is a decision all its own.

Are you still waiting for a sign from the heavens to figure out what to do with your life? Are you hoping that the sky will crack open and a loud booming voice will tell you exactly what to do, where to go, what to focus on? If only it were that easy. There is nothing wrong with believing in a pre-destined life purpose, but it does tend to keep you feeling powerless and adrift if you can’t figure out what it should be. Not only is the uncertainty maddening, there is also the fear that you might choose wrong and set a cataclysmic chain of events into motion. That might sound overly dramatic, but it can certainly feel that way at times! What most of us overlook is the thrill that can come from choosing our own purpose.

Whether you’re more comfortable thinking you have a distinct destiny to fulfill or you think of it in terms of having the free will to choose your path, you can still be proactive in choosing your own life mission. Think about it this way: your life purpose will be something that makes you feel passionate and fulfilled. It is designed that way on purpose – so you “know” what you’re supposed to be doing! Your purpose is to do that which is most aligned with who you are, and uses your natural talents and abilities to their fullest extent. Only you can say what that is exactly, and you may not have the foggiest clue right now.

So begin finding out! If you already know what makes you feel inspired and purposeful, do it more often. Find a way to share it with others. If you don’t know what your passions are, go exploring and find them. Try new things and see if any of them resonate with you. The activities themselves don’t really matter except that they should make you feel wonderful and provide some kind of benefit for the world around you. Think about your existing talents, skills and passions, constantly work on developing new ones – and find a way to share them with others. Then, no matter what else you do, you are definitely fulfilling a grand purpose here on earth. Is it “your” purpose? It is if you choose it to be!

Times are different. They are difficult. They are causing many to worry and be afraid. In fact, fear is floating in the air and people are being crippled by it.

It starts in a mediocre path with habits, mindsets, and beliefs that dig their claws deeply into your very being. It starts with being comfortable and having no goals or vision for a better future, just existing every day. The only goal becomes to merely exist throughout the day. But this mindset will ultimately lead to terror—the terror of losing what you’ve managed to keep in these uncertain times.

We hear this everyday. “My God, I’ve already lost 50% of my retirement!”

No you didn’t. You never had it. Anything you have that’s in an ambiguous place under the control of other people means you never had it in the first place.

There was actually a time in American history when people actually kept their retirement cash under their mattress. Since that time, our society has undergone major changes in our habits, mindsets, and beliefs. The entire pitch became about comfort and convenience. This is why we began putting our money into savings and into no-risk stock. Little did we realize that putting our hope and trust in other people would cause the problems that our economy is currently suffering from. Right now, people are terrified about losing the rest of what they have managed to keep, whether it’s their house, their investments, or stocks.

If you’ve fallen into the zone of least resistance, I want to alert you to another force that also exists today. Believe it or not, it is calling you by name. This force will lead to the deepest yearnings inside of you, which most people choose to ignore because it is not comfortable.

What is this force that 2% of the population has discovered? It’s the force that leads to life—true living! It’s the ability to live your wildest dreams; the liberty to take the risks that will lead to you moving, growing, and investing in your own personal development. It ain’t easy, but it’s very rewarding. It’s living life out of the Lazy-Boy chair!

This force requires personal change and decision. It requires risk. It requires a changed attitude. It requires a change in work ethics. It requires a change in mindsets, habits and beliefs. It has many benefits, including putting more control of your life into your own hands and removing it from others. It fights fear and activates faith.

This force happens to lie dormant within 98% of the population. They have stifled, ignored and repressed the voice of the free, the voice of the risk-taker, and the voice of the faith-walker that they were born with. Instead of true life, they are living in self-defeat.

With the changing times, business as usual has to change! It starts with not allowing the circumstances of life or this economy to determine our success. It starts with us taking control of our own lives, minds, habits, attitudes, and belief systems. It starts with a decision to change.
